CHARLOTTE, N.C. – June 8, 2022 – Vaco, a global talent solutions firm, has been named Corporate Partner of the Year by the National Association of Black Accountants’ (NABA) Charlotte chapter.
Vaco’s Charlotte team received the award in recognition of its exceptional support of NABA’s Charlotte membership initiatives and its organizational commitment to diversity and inclusion. Vaco joined NABA as a corporate partner in November 2021, supporting the organization through professional development opportunities for both college students and chapter members.
“When Vaco joined as a NABA Charlotte corporate partner, they immediately asked how they could add value to our organization,” said Yolanda Hemphill, MBA, president of NABA Charlotte “In March 2022, during Spring Day, which is an event focused on preparing NABA college students for life after graduation, Vaco presented on the importance of networking and mentorship; our students are still raving about how much valuable information they learned from the session. Vaco has also partnered with our chapter to offer multiple CPE sessions to our professional members. Since joining as a sponsor, Vaco has been an amazing corporate partner for NABA Charlotte and added significant value. We look forward to many more years of partnership and an even greater impact on our student and professional members.”
“Our team has a passion for creating and nurturing a diverse business community and talent pipeline, and we’ve found an exceptional partner for that passion in NABA,” said Suzanne Baranski, managing partner of Vaco’s Charlotte office. “Together, we’ve been able to support NABA’s outreach goals, while compounding our joint community impact by developing and mentoring youth through NABA’s student chapter. NABA is one of many organizations that Vaco proudly supports through volunteer work, community involvement and sponsorship to better impact the cities and communities where we work and live.”
Vaco’s Charlotte team has a rich tradition of building community and enhancing lives. The office supports SHE of Charlotte (a professional women’s group, founded and led by Baranski and her Vaco colleague Katie Hyde); First Tee: Greater Charlotte; the HV3 Foundation; Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center; Brave Works; and Dress for Success. Vaco is also active in many North Carolina business organizations, including the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants (NCACPA), The Diversity Movement and the Wake Forest University MBA program.
“I have always loved helping other people succeed; it’s one of the reasons why I joined Vaco as everyone has that same passion,” said Grace Herrin, senior talent analyst in Vaco’s Charlotte office who participated in several events with NABA’s Charlotte chapter. “Working with NABA has been amazing – it is full of kind and compassionate people who have helped us from the very beginning to focus on what we can do and how we can do it. I look forward to growing our partnership and what we accomplish together in the future!”
